A 3D menu and an AR menu show dishes in a way a regular photo cannot. Instead of a flat picture, the guest sees a model of the real dish at 1:1 scale. Both work in the phone browser after scanning a QR code.
3D menu - a dish you can see from every side
A 3D menu is a menu where each dish comes with a three-dimensional model. The guest spins it 360° with a finger, zooms in and checks how the dish looks from the side and from above. The model is made from the real dish from the restaurant kitchen, so it shows its actual look, proportions and portion size.
AR menu - the dish on the table in augmented reality
An AR menu goes one step further. AR, or augmented reality, places the model in the live view from the phone camera. The guest points the camera at the table and the dish appears on it at its natural size. The real portion is visible before it is ordered.
AR is an extra, not a requirement. Guests who do not want to use it see the same dish in the classic 3D preview.
How guests use a 3D and AR menu
- Scan a QR code on the table, in the menu or on the receipt, or open a link from the restaurant website or social media.
- Browse the menu in the phone browser, with no app to install and no account to create.
- Open the 3D preview of a dish and spin it 360°.
- Switch on AR and place the dish on their own table at 1:1 scale.
The menu works on most modern iOS and Android smartphones, also over the guest’s mobile data. The restaurant Wi-Fi is not needed.
What a 3D and AR menu gives a restaurant
- Guests see the real dish and its size, so they order with confidence and without surprises at the table.
- The menu is available in 13 languages, which makes serving international guests easier.
- You change prices, descriptions, ingredients and allergens yourself in the panel, without printing new menus.
- Analytics in the panel shows which dishes attract the most interest.
- The same link works in the dining room, on your website and on social media.
Frequently asked questions about 3D and AR menus
What is the difference between a 3D menu and an AR menu?
A 3D menu shows a dish model on the phone screen, where it can be spun and zoomed. An AR menu shows the same model in the camera view, on the guest’s real table at 1:1 scale.
How is a 3D menu different from photos in a menu?
A photo shows a dish from a single angle and without scale. A 3D model can be viewed from every side, and in AR mode its real size is visible on the table.
Does a 3D menu replace the printed menu?
That is up to the restaurant: a 3D menu can replace the printed menu or complement it, for example as a QR code on the table or in the menu.
Does a 3D menu help with international guests?
Yes. The menu is available in 13 languages and the dish model looks the same in each of them, so guests see what they order even if they do not know the name of the dish.
How much does a 3D and AR menu cost?
The price depends on the package and the number of dishes. Current package prices are on the pricing page, and we prepare an exact quote after a short call.
